Yeah, on an off day, or some day without over drama, we usually talk about dirty jokes, or anime, usually anime though. Anime peaked with Akira, it's all been downhill since 1988. Evangelion was alright. If you didn't watch it in one sitting in 1997 as a fan translation on a copied VHS at your friends house you are scrub tier though. When I saw the DVD release as a box set at best buy in 2002 I knew that today's kids would grow up soft and weak and full of spite. Couldn't get into that show, the main character was way too whiny and didn't do anything unless they practically broke his arm. And honestly, I wasn't a big fan of Akira, I recognized the genius behind it, it just wasn't up my alley, I'm more into awkward schoolgirl romance anime. It makes me giggle a whole bunch.
I do agree with one thing, anime has gotten bland and stale lately.

I don't think all anime is crap lately, but the main genre has gotten a bit repetitive.
But I'm checking out this series called Higurashi no Naku, and I'm only one episode into it, and I'm thinking, "man, something is fixing to go down!" I certainly hope they deliver, it looks very different from what I usually watch.

Spice and Wolf, Steins Gate, Attack on Titans, Log Horizon, Mahou Madoka Magica, and Fate Stay Zero - all on Akira's level and recent. Actually, Madoka Magica is probably BETTER then Akira. But it's hard to compete with the reality Akira put forth in it's plot, making the entire shows story all the more deep. I could go on if I tried to list every show between 98' and now. Like Great Teacher Onizuka and Negima. Oh my gosh, GTO, greatest anime I've ever seen, hands down. A good second and third, in no particular order, is Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. Negima is the one with the little midget British teacher right? The English version has terrible voice acting, but it's so bad, it's actually kind of good.
